Uber brings ChatGPT Work to all employees with OpenAI

From pilot to global rollout

Uber announced the start of the rollout on October 22, 2026, for more than 30,000 employees, following a 1,000-person pilot. Access sits within ChatGPT Enterprise, according to OpenAI’s announcement and Uber’s post. The announced scope does not establish that the entire workforce is already using it.

Tools and support for teams

The announcements list Google Drive, Gmail, Google Calendar and Slack for tasks such as finding information, preparing for meetings or analyzing data. Internal support will include a skills library, approved integrations and training for functions including operations, finance, marketing and product. Uber’s post sets out these details.

Availability and known limits

The announcements do not specify when activation will finish or its cost, and provide no regular-use metrics. The companies plan to share adoption insights and outcomes as the rollout progresses, according to OpenAI.

OpenAI introduced ChatGPT Work in July. The news is Uber’s internal expansion. The ChatGPT Enterprise documentation says administrators can manage access to agents, connected tools and actions; that general capability does not establish which specific permissions Uber has configured.

Nexo’s interpretation: assessing the expansion

Expanding access and demonstrating value are separate milestones. To assess the expansion, we suggest comparing equivalent tasks before and after, including time spent on human review. A faster delivery may require more corrections, so quality and cost should be measured alongside usage.

These questions and indicators are Nexo’s suggestions for project leaders.

Question before expandingIndicator proposed by Nexo
Which task needs improvement?Total time to an accepted deliverable, including review.
Which information can it use?Authorized sources, permissions and an incident log.
How are training and adoption progressing?Training participation and recurring usage by team and task.
Is the change worthwhile?Quality, corrections and cost per task against a comparable baseline.

Hypothetical example: preparing for a meeting

Imagine a team preparing for a weekly meeting using authorized documents and messages. It could request a briefing with pending decisions, source references and questions requiring confirmation. The person responsible would check the figures, correct omissions and decide what to distribute.

This is a hypothetical example from Nexo, rather than a documented Uber use case. To evaluate such a trial, the team could compare the time needed to produce an accepted briefing and the corrections required against the previous process. No savings or accuracy are assumed.
